More About Us

Playing with us

The Bunker Boys are one of the oldest golf societies in Pattaya, organising and playing regular golf competitions for more than 28 years.

The BB play multiple courses in the local area that are maintained in good playing condition and reasonably priced; providing good overall value for players. The BB avoid playing higher priced courses, such as Siam and Chee Chan, except on an occasional basis.

The number of tee times booked varies between high season (November > March) and low season (April > October) with a maximum of 8 tee times (32 players). Should more players desire to play, it will depend upon available transport and the course ability to accommodate additional players on the day of play.

Persons interested in playing should register on the day of play not later than 0915 hours. Visitors and guest players are encouraged to have previously contacted the BB to be assured of a playing opportunity and not being disappointed on the day.

In the spirit of the game of golf, it is expected that honesty and integrity shall prevail at all times.

The maximum handicap permitted for a Bunker Boys competition is 30. When playing courses with indexing (hole ratings/difficulty) from 1 > 9, in lieu of 1 > 18, players with odd number handicaps receive the extra stroke on the back nine. Where a player has more than one WHS index (i.e. PSC, Birdie or other) they must play of the lowest handicap index. In the spirit of the game it is expected that honesty and integrity will prevail at all times.

Handicaps

The BB use the PSC WHS for the maintenance of handicaps. All members and players are expected to be a PSC member and or have a valid WHS handicap.

The BB play all courses, competitions using a players WHS index and do not adjust to a playing handicap for a specific course.

THE BB enter all scores achieved following completion of the days competition into the PSC WHS, to facilitate appropriate adjustment of handicap indexes.

The maximum handicap index permitted for a BB competition is 30.

Players with odd number handicap indexes receive the extra stroke on the back nine played, at courses with greater than eighteen holes (27 or 36 holes).

Where a player has more than one WHS index (PSC, Birdie or Other), the player is expected to play off their lowest handicap index.

Competition

A Stableford competition is held each time the BB plays a course (3 times weekly). A nominal mandatory fee is levied for all players whom participate on the day; to provide a prize pool for places (1, 2, 3, etc.), dependant upon the number of players on the day of play and near pins (on par 3 holes), achieved during competition.

Once a month the BB may play a Medal competition.

Typically, the BB play 13 competition games in a month and compete for a Golfer of the Month (GoM) trophy; awarded the player whom has accumulated the best 6 Stableford point scores in the month.

In the event a player achieves a hole in one, the BB will award a trophy to the player.

In addition to the foregoing trophy awards, the BB provides a free drink in the Sports Lounge for all members in attendance at that day’s presentation.
